SIZING & CARE

The SM, small medium, fits retail 6-8. The ML, medium large, fits retail 10-12. And the LXL, large extra large, fits retail 14-16. I also cut an additional pant size, XXL, fitting retail 18.

Palapala garments are a soft fit. For example, pants are not tight like jeans and not loose like skorts. Rayon pieces are designed to drape with room for movement. For lighter weight fabrics I make patterns with a little more ease and for heavier weight fabrics like linen, I use a little less ease.

All garments are pre shrunk through garment dying. Recommended care is machine wash, gentle cycle, cool water, and a tablespoon of liquid detergent. Do not use liquid fabric softner. Rayon is stiff and hard out of the washer and it is the low/medium dryer heat that softens the fabric and releases the wrinkles. Do not use dryer sheets, they will leave spots. Take the garments out of the dryer before the end of the cycle, hang and let rest. Some textures crinkle (which is not shrinkage) and can be worn as is or pressed flat. Crinkled garments will fit smaller and when pressed flat, the garments will fit larger. I like to use a silk steam setting making sure the iron does not drip and press along seams and center front panels. The fabric may change color when pressed but will go back to original color when cooled.

When a washer and dryer is not available, soak a few minutes, rinse, but do not wring or twist. Hang in the tub and let drip dry. Then lightly press. Most travel wrinkles will hang out overnight or in minutes with shower steam.

We recommend Zout for oil and dye base stains. Wet just the stain and apply the gel. Let sit overnight then rinse the gel out. Let dry and review. If you still see some of the stain repeat as described. With up to three applications I have been able to remove all stains without changing the fabric. After the last application wash and dry as above.

Or dry clean. Note that once dry cleaned it is recommended to not wash and dry garments.
